Like a number of my recent daily paintings, this one is based on a slide photograph that my father took many years ago. The photo was taken in 1959 at Boggy in Alabama (I don't know whether it's Boggy Point, Creek, or Branch; I always just heard it called Boggy). This is the first time the lessons I've been learning recently about light and color have come into play with a nautical scene. I'm happy with this feeling of progress! It is 6x8" and it's #19 in the 30-in-30 challenge.
I see no one has commented on this beautiful painting. As a sailor, I appreciate the way you captured the quality of the light of early morning or late afternoon and as a human I absolutely love the mood this work evokes... I love it!
ReplyDeleteSpritsail Jimmy here - you may remember me from last year commenting on your work. This is lovely - please have a show on the West Coast so the art lovers can appreciate your work in person!
