Since I painted a family member's shaggy dog yesterday, I thought I'd do it again today. Today it's Rusty, my father-in-law's canine companion. As with yesterday's painting, I struggled with the background. At first I tried to situate Rusty in front of some walls receding to the upper right, which is similar to the background in the photo reference, but I wasn't happy with that -- the diagonal line distracted my eye, and it conflicted with Rusty's flow toward the upper left. So I did something I very rarely do -- wiped out part of the background and redid it. You can see the "before" below. This is 6x6" and it's #23 in the 30-in-30 challenge.
